Shpongle are one of the pioneers of the Psybient (Psychedelic Ambient) music genre. They emerged from the nascent Goa Trance scene in the mid 1990's as a collaborative project between Raja Ram (ex of Quintessence & early creator of Psy-Trance) and Simon Posford (uber talented musician & electronic music producer). Their highly influential record label, Twisted Records, was co-founded by Simon and is one of longest surviving in the Psybient / psytrance scene.

Shpongle are essentially a studio creation and occasional DJ act, reportedly only having played live twice and even then in a relatively compact format... until now that is. For a limited number of special "one-off" shows Shpongle are currently an awesome eleven-piece music and dance performance comprising: Simon Posford (Keyboards / guitar), Raja Ram (Flute), Michele Adamson (vocals), Abigail Gorton (vocals), Pete Callard (guitar), Chris Taylor (bass), Andy Gangadeen (drums), Nogera (Percussions), Harry Escott (cello), Dick Trevor (Keyboards / programming), and Manu Delago (Hang Drum).

The first event was held at the Roundhouse in London on 31st October 2008 (echoing the Halloween theme of the Twisted label party in 2006). The impressively sumptuous visual show and overall production management was by Pixel Addicts (incorporating Inside-Us-All, voted number one best VJ's by DJ Mag readers in 2007 & 2008). The forthcoming DVD of the event will feature an extended photograph galley of work by myself and James Medcraft... what I present here is but a taster.
