Big Green Gathering attracts the very best of Britain's contemporary green scene for a 5 day celebration and networking event. It "grew out of discussions among participants in the Green Fields area of the Glastonbury Festival in 1993, which revealed a demand for a separate and smaller event with an explicitly Green focus". It has all the vibrant creativity, community linkage, and magickal charm of the Green Fields, without the vast crowds and mindless rot that so often characterises the commercial side of Glastonbury Festival.
Weather wise, 2003 proved to be dramatically bipolar. When

I arrived on Thursday the ground was already saturated, and the down pour that night was spectacular. Then as a cloudless dawn broke on Saturday morning, we were treated to an extended heat wave. The sun beamed relentlessly down, the mud baked into strange earthen shapes, and we all wore big smiles... accept the festival organisers for whom such extremities were a logistical nightmare. From my perspective the festival was a highly enjoyable success.
